Our Story
Our Story
KST Leather — כֶּתֶר שֵׁם טוֹב — Crown of a Good Name.
(Pirkei Avot — Ethics of the Fathers, 4:1)
Every name carries a story. Ours carries generations — and crosses three continents.
Lazer was born in a small shtetl in Poland. When he immigrated to Argentina, settling in a small town not far from Córdoba, he built something remarkable from the ground up — a thriving leather trade, crafted with his hands and his pride. His son, Efraim, carried it forward, deepening the roots, strengthening the legacy.
The craft, the discipline, the devotion to making something that lasts — it was the family language.
Time passed. But the memory never left.
Then came the trip that changed everything.
Nearly ten years ago, Meny traveled to Argentina. Walking through that country, feeling the culture, breathing the air where Lazer and Efraim had built something with their bare hands — something clicked. An inspiration, a calling — this is what I want to do. This is what I was meant to continue.
He came home to Iowa with that fire, and got to work.
From a small shtetl in Poland, to a small town in Argentina, to a small town in Iowa — KST Leather was born. Bringing you handcrafted, custom-made Tallis and Tefillin bags, made with the same devotion Lazer and Efraim always poured into leather, now channeled into something sacred.
Keser Shem Tov — כֶּתֶר שֵׁם טוֹב — the Crown of a Good Name — is not given. It is earned. (As taught in Pirkei Avot — פִּרְקֵי אָבוֹת, Ethics of the Fathers: “There are three crowns — the crown of Torah, the crown of priesthood, and the crown of kinghood — but the crown of a good name surpasses them all.”) Stitch by stitch. Piece by piece. Generation by generation.
That is what drives everything we make. Welcome to KST Leather.
